An ongoing ministry of encouragment to the people of Honduras

Latest News

The outpouring of the Holy Spirit during the January 2010 trip was amazing-58 people surrendered their lives to Christ during the three plus weeks of ministry! More than 800 patients were treated during the medical and dental clinics, over 1000 lbs of food was distributed, three villages received clothing and 225 school kits plus uniforms and backpacks were given out. We visited two orphanages and were able to give them a lot of clothing. We were able to screen, treat and provide dental education to the Children in the Copan orphanage. We provided water to a family that will enable them to grow crops successfully along with making washing easier.  Thank you to all who willingly served and to all who lifted the teams up in prayer. Please continue to pray for the ministry and for the harvest. Glory to God-great things He has done!

The January 2010 teams are preparing to depart. The pre-team arrives in Honduras on January 9th to prepare for three weeks of ministry. The first week will be primarily dental, the second week primarily medical and the third week house to house, village and school visits along with medical patera (midwife) training in the clinic. And of course outreach all three weeks! Please be in prayer for the teams that the Lord will use them mightily for the Kingdom.  We will be doing field updates on Facebook-please join our Cristo Salva fan page so that you can get updates during the January trips.

The October trip was very fruitful-3 people made decisions to become believers! Santiago and Maria Celeste became believers during our hut to hut outreach. Another young man made a decision to accept Christ during a church service when Pastor Glenn was preaching. Praise the Lord! We were able to hand out a tremendous amount of food and clothing and encourage many through home visits. We visited four schools and the Laurels. Pat, Dr. Carlos and team members served in the clinic the second week. Over 200 expectant moms were seen! Details are in our October newsletter. Click the Current Newsletter tab to view. We will be updating the website with new photos and information in the next few weeks. Our cottage industries are up and running-items will be offered for sale on the website shortly. This is a great way to encourage Jazmin, Arnol and others as they seek to support their families.

An Update on the Crisis In Honduras-posted July 6, 2009

As many of you know, Cristo Salva has had a wonderful opportunity to serve the folks in Honduras, freely and uninterrupted,  for the past 20 years.  There is a verse in the Scriptures that states that in the last days "everything that CAN be shaken,  WILL be shaken," and that is inclusive of governments.  Right now, the Government of Honduras is being shaken.  Perhaps you have been following the sequence of events over the past week.

These events have certainly affected the mission of Cristo Salva, at least for the immediate future.  Let me outline several of these effects:

     1. There is a level-four advisory from the U.S. State Department  that U.S. Citizens NOT travel to Honduras until after July 31.

            2. There is much unrest  and uncertainty (including riots in the streets) as to the final outcome of these events.

            3. The infrastructure has been somewhat affected, that is, major road-blocks, fuel shortages, and extended periods of time without electricity.

             4. There is an international crisis as well whereas almost every country in the free-world has looked with disdain on the decisions of the Honduran Congress.

I have personally agonized in prayer over these happenings and have sought the Lord's wisdom.  In addition, I have surrounded myself with a multitude of wise and trusted counselors, including denominational leaders, seasoned Latin American missionaries and pastors, and those who are living in Honduras right now.  There counsel has been,  "Do NOT go to Honduras in July..............the situation is volatile."

I believe that this is only another "speed-bump" as we continue to be used and have an impact on thousands of very poor folks in this Central American country..  In the words of Scripture.......... "This, too, will pass."

My sincere apology is being offered for the cancellation of the July trip,  but I am not willing to subject the team to unnecessary risk.  The Kingdom of God is ALWAYS forward, and we need to pray a hedge of protection around the dear families of Honduras as they are "enduring" these troubled times.

Thank you for your understanding and your prayers, and especially for your "servant" heart towards the ministry efforts of Cristo Salva and the Honduran people. We ask that you continue to keep this volatile situation in your prayers.

God bless you,
Pastor Ray Marco
Director
Cristo Salva

PS  (As of right now...........the Oct. trip is a "GO")

Update on the medical situations:

Roger corrected the following information: the treatments are $186/weekly not monthly. This is a staggering amount for the family to come up with. Our apologies for the incorrect figures-the need is even greater than previously stated.

In an email message dated 6/12/07 the following information went out:

Hola Friends,
In addition to the message below we just learned a couple moments ago that Adelaida, our good friend who is 91 years old, fell and broke her clavicle. Adelaida is an amazing servant who teaches Sunday School and is the Youth Director at the church near the clinic.  She ended up having surgery in San Pedro Sula. She is recovering at her relatives house right now.  She has a $700.00 hospital bill that is outstanding.  We are asking that you might consider giving whatever amount you feel led to either or both situations. You can specify Adelaida or Flores on your paypal donation or check or just designate "medical" for both. Pastor Ray will wire the initial funds to the Flores so Papa Flores can resume treatments and then will be bringing whatever funds he receives down with him in July so you have time to contribute.

The original email is below:

We would like to share a situation with you that is affecting one of our Honduran Families. Many of you have heard about the Flores family. Luis and Yesenia participate in our music ministry and the Flores family has a home church which we attend while in Honduras. Papa Luis and Tina have been faithful followers of the Lord for many years.  Papa Luis is on bi-weekly kidney dialysis. This treatments are $186.00 each month. The family has been struggling to pay this every month. Luis  lost his job at the local factory due to the downturn in the economy. Work is very hard, if not impossible to find.  Papa Luis is $245.00 behind in paying for his treatments and the facility will not treat him again until he is current in his payments. We are respectfully asking that you prayerfully consider helping with either a one time gift or a monthly gift in order to allow him to continue receiving treatments. We do not bring this request to you lightly, the need is great but our God is greater.

You can go to the website and make a donation via paypal. Please insert Flores Family into the notes area. You may also send a check directly to Cristo Salva with a notation Flores Family.

Thank you for your time and consideration. We appreciate your heart for the ministry efforts of Cristo Salva.
